Ultra Blast & Strip is a locally owned mobile sandblasting business based in Hastings, Michigan. We help homeowners, contractors, farms, commercial properties, municipal facilities, and industrial customers remove rust, paint, grime, stains, graffiti, and old coatings from structurally sound surfaces.


Our goal is to help customers restore items that may otherwise be replaced. A rusty trailer, painted retaining wall, weathered railing, or old piece of equipment may still have years of use left. Sandblasting can remove the unwanted surface material and give the item a cleaner start.

Meet Jesse Cappon

Ultra Blast & Strip is a one-person operation run by Jesse Cappon.


Jesse has six years of construction experience and started Ultra Blast & Strip after seeing a need for a responsive, mobile restoration service in the area. He enjoys seeing a worn-out object become clean and usable again, especially when a customer can avoid replacing something that still has value.


Jesse brings a friendly, hard-working approach to every project. He also brings what he calls 39 years of reckless optimism, which helps when taking on a new challenge or helping a customer figure out whether a difficult project can be restored.


When you contact Ultra Blast & Strip, you will work directly with the person reviewing the photos, sending the estimate, setting up the equipment, and completing the blasting work.

What We Do

Ultra Blast & Strip provides mobile and drop-off sandblasting for approved projects involving metal, concrete, masonry, and select wood surfaces.

Rust Removal

We remove rust from structurally sound metal trailers, equipment, railings, frames, cabinets, fire pits, and structures. Blasting can leave a clean bare-metal surface that is ready for the customer’s next step.

Paint & Coating Removal

We remove old paint and unwanted coatings from metal, concrete, masonry, and select wood surfaces. Sandblasting is useful for paint in corners, seams, grooves, and textured areas where scraping or hand sanding can be slow and inconsistent.

Concrete & Masonry Blasting

We work on concrete walls, floors, foundations, sidewalks, brick, block, stone, and masonry surfaces. Blasting can remove paint, stains, graffiti, grime, old coatings, moss, and mildew.

Metal Stripping

Metal stripping removes rust, paint, stains, grime, and old finishes from sound metal. Depending on the project, blasting can leave a clean matte, near-white metal, or white metal finish.

Wood Sandblasting

For sound wood surfaces, we use a controlled approach with crushed walnut shell media. Wood blasting may remove old paint, stain, moss, algae, and grime from eligible decks, railings, barns, beams, log structures, and siding.

Hastings Drop-Off Projects

Hastings customers have brought in smaller items with flexible timelines, including a heavily rusted fire pit, a small green trailer, a metal storage cabinet, and trailer rims.


Drop-off blasting can be a good option for smaller transportable items. It may reduce mobile travel costs and keeps blasting dust and noise away from the customer’s home and neighbors.

Battle Creek Career Technical Center

Ultra Blast & Strip restored metal railings at a Battle Creek career technical center. Blasting the existing railings was more economical than removing them, fabricating replacements, and installing new ones.


The railings were blasted in one day and left ready for paint. The business later returned to prepare sidewalk light poles for refinishing, helping the facility restore existing features instead of replacing them.

Delton Utility Dump Trailer

A Delton customer had an older utility dump trailer that was showing significant rust. Replacing it would have cost at least $12,000. The customer chose to have the trailer blasted at home and painted it afterward.


The restoration cost was about $2,000, providing a major savings compared with buying a new trailer. Mobile blasting also meant the customer did not need to drop the trailer off and wait weeks to get it back.

Middleville Antique Camper Trailer Frame

A Middleville customer was restoring a 1960s camper trailer and needed multiple paint layers and heavy rust removed from the frame. Hand removal was not practical for the project timeline.


Ultra Blast & Strip completed the mobile blasting work at the customer’s residence in one afternoon. The customer was able to paint the frame the next day.

Yankee Springs and Wayland Retaining Walls

A homeowner preparing to sell their home had painted concrete retaining walls with failing paint, moss, and mildew. Scraping was not producing the desired result, and the homeowner wanted to avoid chemical stripping near landscaping.


Sandblasting removed the old paint and buildup, returning the retaining walls to a cleaner and more uniform concrete appearance.

How We Work

We try to keep the process simple and clear.

Pricing depends on the material, condition, project size, access, travel distance, and blasting media needed.

We review the work area

For mobile projects, the trailer should be able to get within about 100 feet of the blasting area whenever possible.

We perform a test blast

A small test area helps confirm the settings, abrasives, and expected finish before full blasting begins.

05.

We complete the blasting work

We remove the agreed-upon rust, paint, grime, stain, graffiti, or coating.

Sandblasting is noisy and dusty. Before a mobile appointment, customers should remove items they do not want covered in dust and close nearby windows.


Jesse uses a remote supplied-air respirator helmet and cape while blasting. Adjacent surfaces are covered as needed to help prevent ricochet damage.


We blast structurally sound surfaces. Projects with excessive rot, severe corrosion, hazardous materials, or poor structural integrity may not be suitable. Blasting can expose existing damage, but it cannot repair failing wood, metal, concrete, or masonry.
